Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities is attempting to improve the reliability and resiliency of various sanitary sewer pump stations throughout the City by pursuing replacement electrical power generators units at the pump stations. The generators will provide backup power these facilities in the event of a natural or manmade disaster, which will allowed the City to provide continuous sewer collection service to the local residents.

The City is a member of the Local Mitigation Strategic (LMS) Working Group through Broward and was made aware of the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) which is administered through the Florida Division of Emergency Management Division.

Broward County works alongside each working group members to facilitate eligible projects for submittal to the Florida Division of Management Division, and these generators are considered to be hazard mitigation project eligible under the HMGP grant program.

These electrical power generators will aid in the health, welfare and safety of the residents of Hollywood and will provide power back-up supplies which will maintain continuous sewer collection services.

The cost of the generators are approximate $994,000.00 with a city match of 25 percent or approximately $248,500.
