Title

An Ordinance Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Amending Section 37.01 Of The Code Of Ordinances To Reestablish One Additional Department To Be Known As The Department Of Design And Construction Management.

Body

Staff Recommends:  Approval of Ordinance.

Explanation:

At the Special Election on March 12, 2019, Hollywood electors approved the General Obligation Bond (GOB) Referendum questions for City Police and Fire Public Safety Facilities, Technology and Equipment Improvements; City Parks, Open Space, Golf, Recreation and Cultural Facilities Improvements; and City Neighborhoods, Infrastructure and Resiliency Improvements.

In total, the GOB projects represent $165 million in capital projects over the next 5-6 years. Additionally, the City expects to receive capital funding as a result of the City/County/CRA ILA, Transportation Surtax, and MPO funding, bringing the City’s future capital funding well over $400 million. This is in addition to and beyond the City’s public utilities capital program.

As a result, the City Manager is recommending the reestablishment of the Department of Design and Construction Management dedicated to the management of these capital projects.
