Presentation Of Broward County, Florida’s 2019 Partner In Water Conservation Award By Carol Maran, Water Resources Manager, Broward County, Florida.

Body

Staff Recommends: Presentation of Achievement.

Explanation:

Broward County actively promotes Water Conservation as the most effective strategy to address future water needs by partnering with local cities to implement successful regional water conservation programs, such as: the Broward Water Partnership, the NatureScape Broward and the NatureScape Irrigation Service.

These programs, along with the Water Matters Day celebration every year, gives Broward County Communities nationwide recognition, and has contributed to achieving a reduction of over 30 gallons per person per day in the last 15 years. These results are achieved through collaboration and established partnerships with water utilities and municipalities.

Because of the City of Hollywood and the Department of Public Utilities’ efforts to advance Broward County’s regional water conservation programs, as well as efforts to share information through this award application, City of Hollywood has been selected as the 2019 Partner in Water Conservation.

Announcement of this year’s Water Conservation Award was made during the Water Matters Day Opening Ceremony on March 9, 2019 at Tree Tops Park and was presented to the Department of Public Utilities at the Broward County Commission Meeting during the Water Conservation Month Proclamation on April 19, 2019.
