Explanation:

FDOT awards sub-grants to traffic safety partners that undertake priority area programs and activities to improve safety and reduce crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. Sub-grants are awarded to state and local safety-related agencies to assist in the development and implementation of programs in traffic safety priority areas and funding for these sub-grants are apportioned to states annually from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration according to a formula based on population and road miles. If awarded, the Police Department will utilize the sub-grant funds to conduct targeted enforcement and education of pedestrians and bicyclists in order to reduce serious bodily injuries or fatalities involving pedestrians and bicyclists by conducting deliberate enforcement operations which target pedestrian and bicycle safety.
