Explanation:

FDOT awards sub-grants to traffic safety partners that undertake priority area programs and activities to improve safety and reduce crashes, serious injuries, and fatalities. Sub-grants are awarded to state and local safety-related agencies to assist in the development and implementation of programs in traffic safety priority areas and funding for these sub-grants are apportioned to states annually from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration according to a formula based on population and road miles. If awarded, the Police Department will utilize the sub-grant funds to create an initiative to reduce traffic accidents involving fatalities and injuries by conducting deliberate enforcement operations which target speed and aggressive driving.
