Explanation:
On behalf of the Education Advisory Committee, Chair Dr. Daniel Derrico will recognize, several local schools, students, an administrator, and a School District employee by presenting them either with a plaque from the committee or a certificate of recognition signed by Mayor Levy.

Four local schools were recently honored by Magnet Schools of America (MSA) for their commitment to high academic standards, curriculum innovation, successful diversity efforts and parent/community involvement that enriches the magnet themes. Apollo Middle School and Colbert Elementary School each earned Magnet Schools of Distinction awards. Attucks Middle School and McNicol Middle School each earned Magnet Schools of Excellence awards. These four schools were among only 12 Broward County Public Schools receiving these honors. MSA publicly recognized the schools that earned these prestigious awards during its annual conference, which will take place April 10-13, 2019, in Baltimore, Maryland.

Broward County Public Schools announced its top teacher, administrators and school-related/District employee during the 2019 Caliber Awards Ceremony at the Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday, February 21, 2019. The annual ceremony recognizes and honors the dedication and hard work of the District's outstanding educators, leaders and staff. Erin Brown, Assistant Principal at Hollywood Hills High School, was named Assistant Principal of the Year in Broward Schools. Paul Fletcher, ESE Paraprofessional at Stirling Elementary School, was a District Employee of the Year Finalist.
