Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Ordinance.

Explanation:

On February 20, 2019, the City Commission passed on first reading PO-2019-05 prohibiting the operation of motor scooters on public property in the City.  However, the City Commission requested that the City Attorney revise the ordinance, if necessary, depending on state law, etc. In addition, staff and Broward County’s Attorney for Port Everglades contacted the City Attorney’s Office to request that the municipal streets, roadways, and sidewalks within the port jurisdictional area as defined in the Interlocal Agreement among the City of Hollywood, City of Fort Lauderdale, City of Dania Beach and Broward County dated May 6, 1994 be specifically included in the Ordinance.  Finally, new definitions have been added.

The attached Ordinance, with changes, are proposed for adoption on second reading.

Recommended for inclusion on the agenda by:

Douglas R. Gonzales, City Attorney
