On October 4, 2017, the CRA Board passed and adopted Resolution R-CRA-2017-40 which directed CRA staff to implement a Parklet Pilot Program for a one-year period in the Downtown CRA. The one-year period would commence on the date the first parklet was installed. CRA had an existing parklet which was installed at 1906 Harrison Street, currently operated as The Tipsy Boar Gastropub. CRA had the new parklet installed at 1921 Hollywood Boulevard, currently operated as Mickey Byrne's Irish Pub & Restaurant. Under Resolution R-CRA-2017-40, both parklets would travel every 30 days under the Parklet Pilot Program. On September 5, 2018, the CRA Board passed and adopted Resolution R-CRA-2018-30, which changed the length of stay at each location to January 31, 2019. Under Resolution R-CRA-2018-30, both parklets remain in place until January 31, 2019 and then each parklet would be relocated to a second location, selected from among businesses that have qualified for the Parklet Pilot Program, through July 31, 2019.
The CRA desires to amend Resolution R-CRA-2018-30 to allow the parklets to remain in their current location until May 31, 2019, at which time each parklet would travel to a second qualified location from June 1, 2019 through November 30, 2019. The CRA desires that the duration of the parklet at each location be extended due to the length of time that it took for the various permits to be applied for and received by the business owners. The Parklet Pilot Program shall have commenced on December 1, 2018 and shall expire on November 30, 2019.
