Title

A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute An Interlocal Agreement For Broward County Staff Services In Connection With Hearings Before The Unsafe Structures Board.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Broward County offers municipalities the ability to enter into Interlocal Agreements (ILA) to provide for services in connection with hearings before the Unsafe Structures Board.

Several cities in Broward County have opted to establish this relationship in order to present their Unsafe Structures Board on a monthly basis. This consistency guarantees cases will become simpler. This will benefit the citizens and the City.

At the present time, we have not taken a structure to the Unsafe Structures Board since 2016. This has caused a blight in some of our communities that must be addressed. Broward County’s Unsafe Structures Board is the simplest and most professional way to handle the problem. Additionally, Broward County’s Unsafe Structures Boards is relied on by many cities throughout the county. The fact the Board has handled many cases, they have developed the unique ability to understand and evaluate all their cases professionally. They draw on their experience to equitably render judgement for their cases. The fact their administration staff will handle all correspondence and notifications required by statute throughout the trial will benefit the City.

This agreement does not preclude the City from going back to the cities Unsafe Structures Board at a time in the future.
