The City and the School Board of Broward County realize that the School Resource Officer Program is a wonderful benefit to school administration, students and the local community as a whole.  The City and the School Board of Broward County acknowledge that the School Resource Officers assigned to the Elementary, Middle and High Schools are instrumental in facilitating student involvement in community service programs and projects.

The attached Agreement sets forth the terms and conditions for the assignment of four (4) School Resource Officers in thirteen (13) public elementary schools, seven (7) School Resource Officers in seven (7) public secondary schools and one (1) School Resource Officer at one (1) combination school operated by the School Board of Broward County as referenced in the Agreement.  The term of this Agreement commences on August 8, 2018 and concludes on June 5, 2019, and the School Board of Broward County, through this Agreement, intends to defray a fraction of the City’s cost toward the City’s School Resource Officer Program by reimbursing the City in the amount of $624,000.00.  The Chief of Police recommends that the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to execute the 2018-2019 School Resource Officer Program Agreement with the School Board of Broward County for the assignment of School Resource Officers during the term of this agreement.
