Explanation:

The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (Broward MPO) has adopted “Commitment 2040”, their “Long Range Transportation Plan” (LRTP) and has funding available from the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).  This has set the stage for a new more streamlined program for funding local mobility projects.  The Broward MPO has established the “Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives Program”.  The mobility projects include complete streets projects.

The City of Hollywood intends to apply in November 2018 for the $2,000,000 award from the Broward MPO for each of the Complete Streets Projects that are estimated to cost no more than $2,000,000 for Federal Transportation Authority participating work scope for each of the three (3) geographical areas/zones. The City would be required to fund Project contingencies in the estimated amount of $720,000 for two of the projects. The project scope for the Johnson Street project is estimated at $2M to be funded by the MPO as Grant Federal Transportation Authority participating work scope such as sharrow bike lanes, train pedestrian crossing, lighting. Sidewalks to be installed/replaced as part of water/sewer utility project.

These “Complete Streets” Projects would be implemented along City maintained local streets within the following areas/zones:  1) Johnson Street Mobility And Pedestrian Safety Improvements, N. 35th Avenue to N. 14th Avenue; 2) North 22nd Avenue Complete Streets From Sheridan Street To S.W. 2nd Place (Co-Applicant With The City Of Dania Beach) 3) Sidewalk Construction Infill In Area Bordered By  State Road 7 To The West, N. 56th Avenue To The East, Taft Street To The South, And Sheridan Street To The North (West Park Road E Of SR 7 Sidewalk Network),  Segments Infill N. 64th  Avenue And Sheridan Street

The Broward MPO requests a Resolution of Support from the City of Hollywood in order for the City’s application in November 2018 for the Complete Streets and Other Localized Initiatives Program to be accepted and evaluated for ranking. The ranking by the City to be used by the MPO when selecting from multiple projects from one applicant shall be as follows:

1.                     Johnson Street Mobility and Safety Improvements

2.                     N. 22nd Avenue Complete Streets (co-applicant with City of Dania Beach)

3.                     Sidewalks infill West Park Road E of SR 7 Sidewalk Network, N. 64th Avenue, Sheridan Street.
