Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

In 2011, the Police Department achieved accreditation pursuant to standards established by the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc.  In 2014, the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation, Inc. did not grant the Police Department’s re-accreditation.  The Police Department has recently begun the process to achieve re-accreditation.  If re-accredited, the Police Department will be recognized for maintaining the highest standard of Law Enforcement service, professionalism, and competence.  Re-inspection for compliance with Accreditation Standards requires expenditures associated with training and travel expenses, various supplies, specific enhancements to the Police Department building, and any other costs associated with the re-accreditation process.

Funding will be appropriated in the 2019 Operating Budget of the Law Enforcement Forfeiture Fund, subject to the approval of this resolution.
