Explanation:
In 2014, Gwendolyn and Daniel Figueroa filed a civil action against the City of Hollywood, Florida, arising out of a motor vehicle accident that allegedly occurred on April 11, 2014 near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and North 58th Avenue. In the action, Mr. and Mrs. Figueroa allege that a City-owned vehicle driven by a City employee collided with their vehicle. Mr. and Mrs. Figueroa further allege that the accident and their resulting injuries were caused by the City employee’s negligence.
The City’s outside counsel, in conjunction with the City Attorney’s Office, and Mr. and Mrs. Figueroa’s attorney have negotiated a settlement in the amount of $190,000.00. If this settlement is approved by the City Commission, the monies will be paid from the City’s self-insurance fund.
The City Attorney recommends that the City Commission approve the negotiated settlement.
