Explanation:
The 2007 Water System Master Plan identified the need to replace aging water distribution system pipes throughout the City of Hollywood.
The existing water main along Hollywood Boulevard from City Hall to Dixie Highway is defined as necessary for replacement based on the age of the pipelines, repeated pipeline breaks in the areas, and water quality issues.
On November 18, 2015, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2015-364 the City awarded the professional technical services for the design, permitting, and construction services related to the new water main along Hollywood Boulevard from City Hall to Dixie Highway to Tetra Tech, Inc. in the amount of $61,854.00.
On August 31, 2016, pursuant to Resolution No. R-2016-247 the City approved an agreement with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to implement the construction of the new water main under FDOT's road way construcition project along Hollywood Boulevard from City Hall to Dixie Highway.
FDOT's contractor recently attempted to install the water main using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) method under the Florida East Coast (FEC) Railway and was unsuccessful.
The reason for the contractor's failed bore performance has not been established and Tetra Tech, Inc. needs to assist in the investigation of the problem.
FEC has requested a plan to relocate HDD boring which needs to be developed by Tetra Tech, Inc.
