Staff Recommends: Approval of Attached Resolution

Explanation:

On October 4, 2017, pursuant to Resolution R-CRA-2017-40, the CRA Board authorized the appropriate CRA official to begin the implementation of the parklet pilot program which included the design and construction of a new, modular parklet to be used in the diagonal parking spaces on Hollywood Boulevard and the reuse of an existing parklet which was previously designed and used in the parallel parking spaces on Harrison Street.

CRA and City Staff worked with an architect and a contractor and the new parklet has been set up in the three parking spaces in front of 1921 Hollywood Blvd. The second parklet which is the reuse of a previously used one, will be set up in the coming weeks in front of 1906 Harrison Street.

The idea of the parklet program is to relocate them in front of interested businesses on a regular basis. During the initial one (1) year pilot program the two Parklets would remain in place until January 31, 2019 and then each one will be relocated to a second location until July 31, 2019. This would allow for a more equal range of seasonal conditions for each location.

This resolution also clarifies the parking space rental fees that the CRA will pay to the City, as well as the FDOT Café Table fee that will be paid by the businesses using the parklets.
