Explanation:
A Request for Proposal was issued in March 2015, by the City’s Benefits Consultant, the Gehring Group, for basic life and AD&D insurance coverage. The City Commission accepted a three year fixed rate for this insurance coverage beginning April 1, 2015. All other City insurance products expire on December 31. The Gehring Group negotiated an extension to December 31, 2018 with no change or increase in premium. The City Manager approved a 90 extension under his authority for the months of April through June. Therefore, the attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to extend the contract the between Symetra and the City of Hollywood for the remaining 6 months for an estimated amount of $90,794.67.
