Explanation:
On May 2, 2018, the City Commission approved R-2018-137, authorizing the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) grant application in the approximate amount of $13,750.00, along with $13,750.00 in matching funds which were to come from another grant considered contemporaneously. The Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) initiated this grant program to assist with the removal and proper disposal of derelict vessels from waterways.
The Police Department, upon City Commission approval, submitted a proposal to the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Derelict Vessel Removal Program Grant. Additional funding has become available and the Police Department wishes to amend the amount in the grant application. Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Derelict Vessel Removal Program Grant funds will be approximately $6,875.00, along with $20,625.00 in matching funds which will come from another grant considered contemporaneously.
If awarded, grant funds for the award period FY 2018, in the amount of $6,875.00 together with $20,625.00 in matching funds from Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation (FWC) Derelict Vessel Removal Grant Program, will be used for the removal and disposal of derelict vessels located in the waterways of the City. The Chief of Police recommends that the City Commission authorize the appropriate City officials to submit an amended application to the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND) Derelict Vessel Removal Program Grant.
