Explanation:

National Gun Violence Awareness Day was established to honor and remember all victims and survivors of gun violence, and to declare that we as a country must do more to reduce gun violence.

Moms Demand Action is a national organization who annually sponsor a National Gun Violence Awareness Day in cities and towns throughout the United States on the first Friday of June.  A WEAR ORANGE event is scheduled for Saturday, June 2^nd to support and honor victims and survivors of gun violence in the City of Parkland.

The proclamation will be accepted by Bracha Berkson, a LEAD volunteer from Moms Demand Action, who is also a Hollywood resident.

The proclamation will be presented at the May 16, 2018 City Commission meeting.
