Explanation:

National Gun Violence Awareness Day was established to honor and remember all victims and survivors of gun violence, and to declare that we as a country must do more to reduce gun violence.

Moms Demand Action is a national organization who annually sponsor a National Gun Violence Awareness Day in cities and towns throughout the United States on the first Friday of June.  A WEAR ORANGE event is scheduled for Saturday, June 2nd to support and honor victims and survivors of gun violence in the City of Parkland.

The proclamation will be accepted by Bracha Berkson, a LEAD volunteer from Moms Demand Action, who is also a Hollywood resident.

The proclamation will be presented at the May 16, 2018 City Commission meeting.
