Explanation:

Chapter 119 of the City of Hollywood Code of Ordinances regulates vacation rental licenses.

The 929 North Southlake Drive property has a history of complaints of excessive noise, improper parking, large parties and commercial activity with 22 violations in 2016 and 2017.   In June 2017, the property owner’s existing Vacation Rental License was revoked after it was determined that the property representative falsified information regarding the number of guests.  On March 19, 2018, the property representative for 929 North Southlake Drive submitted an application for a new Vacation Rental License.   After review of the application, complaint and violation history, on March 29, 2018 the City Manager denied the application.

Pursuant to Section 119.55, the ultimate responsibility for the administration of Chapter 199 VACATION RENTAL LICENSE PROGRAM is vested in the City Manager, or his or her authorized designee, who is responsible for granting, denying, revoking, renewing, suspending and canceling vacation rental licenses for proposed and existing vacation rentals as set forth in this chapter.

At the duly noticed public hearing, the City Commission considered the owner’s appear of the decision to deny the owner’s application for vacation rental license.
