Explanation:
The City has used Paul Ryder, Jr. to provide legal services in various labor and employment matters and continues to use him for such matters.
Section 38.40(C)(2) of the Code of Ordinances exempts from the competitive bid and competitive proposal requirements of the Purchasing Ordinance contracts for professional services. When professional services are purchased and the estimated annual amount to be paid therefor by the City exceeds $50,000, City Commission approval is required.
Resolution No. R-2017-300 approved an agreement with the Law Firm for legal services for FY 2018 in an amount not to exceed $75,000.00. The City Attorney estimates that the total amount of fees that will be paid to the Law Firm in Fiscal Year 2018 will approach but not exceed $125,000.00.
Funding has been identified and is available in the Fiscal Year 2018 budget in Account Number 01.0104.00000.514.003126.
