Explanation:
On May 6, 2015, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2015-101 approving The Center for Independent Living of Broward, Inc. (“CIL”) as a sub-recipient of funding under the City's State Housing Initiatives Partnership (“SHIP”) Program Special Needs/Barrier/Free Activities. CIL specializes in services to the special needs community, including those with developmental disabilities. The Agreement enabled the organization to provide housing rehabilitation services to persons with developmental disabilities and facilitated the City’s compliance with applicable SHIP regulations. The Agreement was procured pursuant to Section 38.40(C)(8) of the City’s Purchasing Ordinance (best interest exemption).
On March 16, 2016 the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution R-2016-058 authorizing the first amendment to the Agreement to extend the term to April 1, 2018. The original Agreement envisioned accomplishing two rehabilitation projects. One project has been completed and the second project is currently underway. Because of a change in the project’s scope of work, additional time may be needed to complete the project. Staff recommends further amending the Agreement to extend the term sixty (60) days until May 31, 2018 and revise the timetable/schedule contained in the attached Exhibit “C”. Sufficient funding is available in account number 64.1500.15200.554.008349 to fulfill the financial terms of the Agreement.
