Explanation:

In 2016, the City Commission under Resolution No. R-16-295 awarded West Construction, Inc. a construction contract to construct Fire Station No. 45.

Broward County has mandated that all existing and new fire stations replace the outdated Zetron Fire Alerting System in order to support current and future fire department alerting needs.

Broward County is requiring the installation of the Phoenix G2 Fire Station Alerting System which is comprised of a central ATX Station Controller and a network of alerting peripherals that alert first responders throughout a fire station via audio, display, lighting and auxiliary input/output (I/O) components that an emergency incidence has been dispatched.  Broward County pursuant to competitive procurement issued “RFP R1426611P1 Fire Station Alerting System” in order to solicit a fire station alerting system (FAS) to support current and future fire department alerting needs for Broward County and local fire department public safety personnel.  Broward County entered into a contract with Keylite Power & Lighting Corporation on October 10, 2017.

The Fire Chief and Fire Department personnel have reviewed and recommend the issuance of a Purchase Order to Keylite Power & Lighting Corporation in the amount of $80,186.78.  The City Commission adopted R-2017-295 which continued the appropriation for previously approved capital projects from FY 2017 to FY 2018 and provided funding for the Fire Station #45 project in account numbers 34.2116.16501.522.006301 and 34.2117.17501.522.006301.
