Explanation:
The Public Works Department, Fleet Division, on behalf of various City departments and divisions, requires the purchase of twenty nine vehicles to replace those that have reached or surpassed their life expectancy and road worthiness by age, mileage, and wear, and can no longer be relied upon to perform at required operational levels of vehicles.
The vehicles will be purchased off the Florida Sheriff’s Association Bid Number FSA17-VEL25.0, which were competitively bid for the use and reliance of government entities within the State of Florida.
Auto Nation Chevrolet, Prestige Ford, and Alan Jay Toyota have agreed to provide these vehicles as listed in the Florida Sheriff’s Association Bid Number FSA17-VEL25.0 to the City under similar pricing, terms and conditions.
Three 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Mid-Size 4-Door utility vehicles, three 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Compact Pickup Trucks, and one 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 2500 4x4 Pickup Truck, totaling $186,542.00, will be purchased from Auto Nation Chevrolet of Pembroke Pines, Florida, the Southern Region’s awarded vendor for Specification #27, #42, and #57.
19 2018 Ford Escape 4-Door Utility Vehicles, totaling $398,753.00, will be purchased from Prestige Ford of Doral, Florida, the Southern Region’s awarded vendor for Specification #25.
Three Toyota Prius Hybrid Electric Cars, totaling $77,691.75, will be purchased from Alan Jay Toyota of Sebring, Florida, the Southern Region’s awarded vendor for Specification #20.
Pricing for all purchased vehicles includes all fees and related charges; and
Section 38.40 (C)(5) of the Purchasing Ordinance allows the Director to procure, without following formal procedures, all goods and services which are subject of contracts with the state, its political subdivisions, the United States government, other governmental entities, or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, provided however, the goods and services are: (i) the subject of a price schedule negotiated by the state or the United States government, or (ii) the subject of a contract with another governmental entity or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, which contract is based strictly on competitive bids or competitive proposals and not on any preference; and
Funding for the vehicle purchases for the Department of Development Services, Building Division in the amount of $471,998.00 is available in Account Number 57.5100.17106.590.076452, Funding for the vehicle purchases for the Police Department in the amount of $113,297.00 is available in Account Numbers 57.5100.16106.590.036452, 57.5100.15106.590.036452, and 57.5100.18106.590.036452, and the funding for the vehicle purchases for the Parking Division in the amount of $77,691.75 is available in Account Number 57.5100.17106.590.066452
The Director of Development Services, Building and Parking Division, the Police Chief, the Director of Public Works and the Director of Procurement and Contract Compliance recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of Purchase Orders with Auto Nation Chevrolet of Pembroke Pines, Florida for three 2018 Chevrolet Traverse Mid-Size 4-Door utility vehicles, three 2018 Chevrolet Colorado Compact Pickup Trucks, and one 2018 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 2500 4x4 Pickup Truck, totaling $186,542.00; and purchase orders with Prestige Ford of Doral, Florida, for the purchase of 19 2018 Ford Escape 4-Door Utility Vehicles, totaling $398,753.00; and Alan Jay Toyota of Sebring, Florida, for the purchase of three Toyota Prius Hybrid Cars totaling $77,691.75, for a combined total expenditure of $662,986.75.
