Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities requires an agreement for the purchase of Sodium Hypochlorite for use by the Water Treatment Plant.

The sodium hypochlorite 12% solution is used for the disinfection of potable drinking water produced at the Water Treatment Plant for consumption by City of Hollywood residents and businesses.

The required sodium hypochlorite was competitively bid by the City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida who acted as the lead agency on behalf of the Southeast Florida Governmental Purchasing Cooperative Group which the City of Hollywood is a member.

The City of Fort Lauderdale, Florida's Bid Number 12006-372 was opened on August 11, 2017 and was awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder Allied Universal Corporation for an initial term of two (2) years with the option to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year periods.

Allied Universal Corporation is currently providing similar services to the City in a satisfactory manner.

The Director of Public Utilities and the Director of Procurement & Contact Compliance recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of the attached Blanket Purchase Order agreement for sodium hypochlorite to Allied Universal Corporation in an estimated annual amount of $350,000.00.

Section 38.46 of the Purchasing Ordinance allows the Director to have the authority to join with other governmental entities in cooperative plans when the best interests of the City would be served thereby.
