Title

A Resolution Of The City Commission Of The City Of Hollywood, Florida, Approving And Authorizing The Appropriate City Officials To Execute The Attached Combined Voluntary Cooperation And Operational Assistance Mutual Aid Agreement For Law Enforcement Services Between The Seminole Tribe Of Florida And The City Of Hollywood.

Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

Chapter 23 of the Florida Statutes, the “Florida Mutual Aid Act,” authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into agreements for voluntary cooperation and assistance of a routine law enforcement nature across jurisdictional lines.  The “Florida Mutual Aid Act” also authorizes law enforcement agencies to enter into operational assistance agreements for the rendering of assistance in a law enforcement emergency.

The Seminole Tribe and Hollywood are so located in relation to each other that it is to the advantage of each to receive and extend mutual aid in the form of law enforcement services and resources to adequately respond to; continuing, multi-jurisdictional criminal activity, so as to protect the public peace and safety, and preserve the lives and property of the citizens and intensive situations, including, but not limited to, natural or manmade disasters or emergencies as defined under Section 252.34, Florida Statutes.

The Seminole Tribe and Hollywood believe it is in the best interest of the health, safety, and welfare of their citizens to enter into a Combined Voluntary Cooperation and Operational Assistance Mutual Aid Agreement for Law Enforcement Services.
