Explanation:
The City Commission supports the completion of missing sidewalk networks and designated bicycle lanes along the City's roadway system to provide safe pedestrian and bicycle pathways to protect residents from the traveling public, and in furtherance of these initiatives, has enacted legislation embracing the "Complete Streets" concept in support of these mobility initiatives.

The Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization (Broward MPO) obtains federal funding to be appropriated towards mobility enhancement projects. Through the Department of Public Work's efforts, the Broward MPO designated full project federal funding towards the 56th Avenue Bike Lane Project No. 4346971, providing for the construction of bike lanes within varied neighborhoods along:

? 56th Avenue from Pembroke Road to Stirling Road
? 62nd Avenue from County Line Road to Johnson Street

In an effort to optimize project implementation and provide cost and time savings, the City, Broward MPO and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) agree delivery of the design, construction and project management services for the two above referenced projects is best provided for by FDOT. The City must endorse FDOT's delivery of projects which fall within the City jurisdictional right of way. Both projects are in the preliminary design stage and will come back to the City Commission for approval after the design is complete and the public outreach to the affected communities is performed.
