Explanation:
Parklets are platforms installed adjacent to public sidewalks over parking spaces within a public right-of-way.
Parklets are semi-permanent decks that expand the pedestrian experience and enhance the quality thereof beyond the sidewalk.
Parklets may include tables, chairs, umbrellas, landscaping, food and beverage service, and sun shade, all of which will enhance the quality of the pedestrian experience.
Parklets have been implemented in San Francisco, Oakland, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Los Angeles, San Jose, Birmingham, and Fort Lauderdale;
The City Commission was presented with a one year pilot program within the Downtown CRA on January 18, 2017, and CRA staff made a presentation to the CRA Board regarding and update to the parklet program on May 3, 2017.
Upon direction of the CRA Board, CRA staff solicited letters of interest from restaurants located within the downtown core. The CRA received eight (8) letters of interest by the established deadline of May 23, 2017.
CRA staff determined, of the eight (8) interested restaurants, the best location for the CRA's existing parklet is 1906 Harrison Street.
To have this parklet established in front of 1906 Harrison Street, Tipsy Boar Gastropub will remit a payment of $560.00 for the 30 day duration calculated as follows: the parking space rental fee within the downtown is $8.00 per day, and this parklet will take up two parking spaces for 30 days, for a total of $480.00 and the FDOT cafe table standard fee is $3.00 per square foot annually, and the parklet is 320 square feet, setup for 30 days, for a total of $80...
