Explanation:
The Parking Administrator had requested the Rehabilitation of the Van Buren Parking area for re-use by both City employees and local businesses. This parking area has been identified as having inadequate lighting and also missing pavement marking areas. The Parking Division plans on installing lighting improvements and new pavement marking in the area.

The project was electronically advertised via BidSync in accordance with the City's Purchasing Ordinance, Section 38.42 (A) on May 5, 2017. A pre-bid field meeting was held on June 5, 2017 with no potential bidders attending, bids were publicly opened on June 19, 2017. One bid was received; the bid from Southeastern Engineering Contractor, Inc.

The base bid for the Rehabilitation of the Van Buren Street Parking Area (lots 5, 6 and east half of lot 7, block 30) was in the amount of $129,633.00. In review of the bid, staff felt the price was high and that it was in the best interest of the City to revise the bid, re-advertise and re-bid the project to obtain more competitive bids. The project was electronically re-advertised via BidSync in accordance with the City's Purchasing Ordinance, Section 38.42 (A) on June 26, 2017.
