Explanation:

The 2007 Water System Master Plan identified the need to replace aging infrastructure throughout the City of Hollywood and to install additional infrastructure to improve the level of service within the City’s water system.

As part of the City-wide Water Main Replacement Program, existing water distribution infrastructure will be replaced and 4-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch diameter water mains within the area surrounded by Taft Street and Charleston Street from North 66th Avenue to North 72nd Avenue.

On September 17, 2014, via Resolution R-2014-279, the City Commission approved a proposal from Craven Thompson and Associates, Inc., in the amount of $988,724.48, to provide design services, permitting services, bidding recommendation services, and limited construction services for the Water Main Replacement Program within the area bounded by Taft Street and Johnson Street and from North 66th Avenue to North 72nd Avenue.

On March 22, 2017, the Department of Public Utilities staff advertised the project soliciting for qualified construction services, and on May 16, 2017, six (6) bid proposals were received at the Office of the City Clerk and were publicly opened at the City of Hollywood Southern Regional Wastewater Plant with the following results:

                     No.                     BIDDER                     BID

1                     JVA Engineering Contractor, Inc.                     $16,874.725.00

Based on input from the City Commission at the septic-to-sewer conversion workshop of June 21, 2017, Department of Public Utilities staff determines it is best to reject all bids received to address the sewer within the project limits.

The Administration recommends that the City Commission reject all bids for the Water Main Replacement Program from Taft Street to Charleston Street and between North 66th Avenue and North 72nd Avenue.
