Explanation:
On July 19, 1995, the City Commission of the City of Hollywood, Florida adopted Ordinance No. O-95-43, which amends Chapter 151, "BUILDINGS", of the Code of Ordinances to provide that building permit fees shall be established by resolution of the City Commission. On February 6, 2002 the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2002-21 revising the building permit fee schedule including engineering permit fee rates, and recognizing as engineering work improvements regulated by the Utilities Department such as water treatment, water distribution, sewer treatment, sewer collection.

Other resolutions followed to create Engineering and Landscape Plan review fees in 2010 and 2011. On September 7, 2016 the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2016-262 revising the building permit fee schedule including engineering permit fee rates. These revised rates, same as the rates established on 2002 were based on cost of services and rates for structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing work.

Staff has evaluated the current engineering, utilities and landscape permit fee schedule and cost of providing services; and has surveyed surrounding municipal jurisdictions to obtain prevailing fee schedules in the respective jurisdiction. The rates shown on the attached Exhibit 1 represent the cost of providing services and are recommended for adoption.
