Explanation:

The "Charles F. Vollman Certificate of Appreciation" award was established by Hollywood Council of Civic Associations to recognize civic involvement in the City of Hollywood.

Mr. Vollman had a passion for maintaining relationship with local neighbors and government officials alike.  He believed in building a strong society where his dedication and integrity ensured that all measures carried out in the name of the community was executed by local neighbors and government officials with honor and accepted by all with satisfaction.  His unique approach to volunteerism formed the basis for this award.

Numerous nominees were submitted and after careful consideration one outstanding nominee, Patricia Antrican, was selected.

Patricia (Patty) Antrican was born in Miami, Florida and, with her husband Rick, has been a resident of Hollywood since 1989.  In 2012, Patty turned her attention to civic advocacy through her membership on the Board of the North Central Civic Association, and by representing North Central on the Hollywood Council of Civic Associations.

As a founding member of Friends of Hollywood Florida, Inc., Patty has worked to raise awareness of the significance of our natural lands, and to advocate for the restoration and protection of our natural heritage, and to promote the principles of smart growth for our communities.

Patty’s activities reflect her belief that what affects one neighborhood affects us all; that we need to work together for a better, more livable Hollywood, and that the road to a revitalized City can only be accomplished through strengthening community relationships across Districts.  She also believes that having fun together is an important aspect of community building.
