Explanation:

The Paralyzed Veterans Association of Florida, Inc. was founded in Miami in September 1956, and encompasses Monroe, Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Martin Counties.  In 1984, the Paralyzed Veterans of America set aside a week to raise awareness for issues of importance to paralyzed veterans and all individuals with disabilities.  In 2011, The Paralyzed Veterans of Florida, Inc. extended awareness for the entire month of April.

It is important to recognize the many sacrifices made by veterans.  A proclamation in honor of the Paralyzed Veterans of America Awareness Month will be presented at the April 19, 2017, City Commission Meeting.  Juan Perez President of the Paralyzed Veterans Association of Florida, Inc. will accept the proclamation.
