Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolutions.

 

 

Explanation:

The Public Works Department, Fleet Division, on behalf of the Department of Public Utilities and the Department of Development Services, Building Division require the purchase of two (2) each for a total of four (4) 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Compact Extended Cab Pick Up Trucks, and the Department of Public Utilities requires the purchase of two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Mid-Size 4-Door Sedans, two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Trucks 4x2 and one (1) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Truck 4x4 to replace those vehicles that have reached or surpassed their life expectancy and road worthiness by age, mileage and wear and can no longer be relied upon to perform at required operational levels.

 

The requested vehicles were competitively bid through the Florida Sheriff’s Association, pursuant to Bid Number FSA16-VEL24.0 for the use and reliance of government entities within the State of Florida.

 

The Southern Region’s awarded vendor for Specification #45, Stingray Chevrolet of Plant City, Florida was contacted regarding availability and the vendor advised City staff that they can provide the four (4) 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Compact Pickup Truck vehicles as needed by the City.

 

The Southern Region’s awarded vendor for Specification #18, #51 and #52, Auto Nation Chevrolet of Pembroke Pines, Florida was contacted regarding availability and the vendor advised City staff that they can provide the two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Mid-Size 4-Door Sedans, two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Trucks 4x2 and one (1) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Truck 4x4 vehicles as needed by the City.

 

Stingray Chevrolet and Auto National Chevrolet have agreed to provide these vehicles as listed in the Florida Sheriff’s Association Bid Number FSA16-VEL24.0 to the City under similar pricing, terms and conditions.

 

Section 38.40 (C)(5) of the Purchasing Ordinance allows the Director to procure, without following formal procedures, all goods and services which are subject of contracts with the state, its political subdivisions, the United States government, other governmental entities, or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, provided however, the goods and services are: (i) the subject of a price schedule negotiated by the state or the United States government, or (ii) the subject of a contract with another governmental entity or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, which contract is based strictly on competitive bids or competitive proposals and not on any preference.

 

Funding for the vehicle purchase for the Building Division in the amount of $44,478.00 is available in Account Number 57.5100.14106.590.016452.

 

The funding for the vehicle purchases for the Department of Public Utilities will be made available in Account Number 57.5100.17106.590.04652 upon the adoption and approval by the City Commission of a companion Resolution, which amends the FY 2017 Operating Budget.

 

The Director of Public Utilities, the Director of Development Services, the Director of Public Works and the Director of Procurement and Contract Compliance recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of Purchase Orders between Stingray Chevrolet of Plant City, Florida for the purchase of four (4) 2017 Chevrolet Colorado Pick Up Truck vehicles in the total amount of $88,956.00 and purchase orders to Auto Nation Chevrolet for the purchase of the two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Malibu Mid-Size 4-Door Sedans, two (2) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Trucks 4x2 and one (1) 2017 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab 1500 Pickup Truck 4x4 vehicles in the total amount of $114,632.00, for a grand total expenditure of $203,588.00.
