Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization for the expenditure of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds to defray expenses associated with sponsoring special Law Enforcement events and programs in the amount of $20,548.95.  The Police Department’s Administrative Bureau is generally entrusted with the responsibility for coordinating and scheduling many of the Special Law Enforcement community events and programs including but not limited to the Broward Victim’s Rights Coalition, Citizens Law Enforcement Academy, the Citizens Mobile Crime Watch Patrol, Crime Watch Community events and functions, Crime Watch Programs at local schools, Youth Ambassador Program at local high schools, and Police Honorary Events.  The costs associated with sponsoring and coordinating these Special Law Enforcement events and programs are borne entirely by the Police Department’s Administrative Bureau.  These expenses are non-budgeted and promote crime prevention in our community.

This expenditure of Law Enforcement Forfeiture Funds will incur no cost to the taxpayers of the City of Hollywood and serves a legitimate Law Enforcement purpose as prescribed by Section 932.7055(5)(a), Florida Statutes.
