Explanation:

Students from Hilary Fine’s Middle School Art program at Hollywood Academy of Arts & Science (HAAS) won the top three categories in the 2017 Annual Florida Radon Poster Contest for the third year in a row.

 

                     First Place:      Victoria Rowe for “Radon Can Cause Lung Cancer”

                     Second Place: Kaliana Hutiu for “Radon is a Rising Threat”

                     Third Place:     Mishel Almaleh for “What is Radon? The Silent Killer” 

                     Honorable Mention: Carolina Vilato for “Radon Can Cause Lung Cancer”

 

Victoria Rowe and Mishel Almaleh went on to become two of the top ten National Radon Contest Finalists with judging based on online voting.  Ms. Rowe’s entry representing Florida won first place in the National Radon Poster Contest.

 

The Education Advisory Committee will recognize the students at the City Commission meeting on February 15, 2017.

 

On April 6th at Hollywood’s ArtsPark Gallery during the HAAS Exhibition Reception the students will be presented by Tallahassee’s Florida Department of Health with their crystal awards and Victoria Rowe will be presented with $1000.00 award as the 1st Place National Radon Poster winner.
