Explanation:
State Road A1A is on the State Highway System and is contained in the Florida Department of Transportation's Adopted Work Program for roadway maintenance improvements in Fiscal Year 2017.
The City of Hollywood together with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) desire certain additional complete streets and roadway improvements to state road A1A to enhance the corridor aesthetically and improve the pedestrian experience to include, but not limited to, the reconstruction and realignment of existing curb, gutter, drainage structures, adjustment of utility sewer manholes, water valves, etc.
The City of Hollywood is responsible for the adjustment of forty (40) utility sewer manholes and ninety-seven (97) water valves.
This utility sewer manholes and water valves adjustments are in the best interest of both the City and the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and it would be practical, expeditious and economical for FDOT to perform such activities in conjunction with the FDOT's scheduled Rehabilitation and Resurfacing Project.
FDOT requires this understanding between the City and FDOT be formalized through the execution of a FDOT Utility Work By Highway Contractor Agreement.
Funding for this project has been provided via Resolution No. R-2016-291 which continued the appropriation for previously approved capital projects from FY2016 to FY2017.
