Explanation:

This Resolution seeks authorization for the appropriate City Officials to prepare and submit a grant proposal submission to the Victims of Crime Act, “VOCA,” Grant program offered by the Office of the Attorney General, State of Florida for the continued funding for a Police Department Victim Advocate.  The grant submission proposal seeks continuation of funding for the established Victim Advocate Program in an approximate amount of $75,645.00 from the state program, and requires a City cash match in an approximate amount of $18,412.00; which is a portion of salary of the existing Victim Advocate position and Police Sergeant supervising the unit.
