Explanation:
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to accept 2016 Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) program grant funds from the Broward County Sheriff's Office in order to purchase a mobile two camera system license plate reader trailer and three tablets. The Broward County Sheriff's Office has been designated as the lead agency on behalf of every Law Enforcement Agency in Broward County for the purpose of applying for and receiving Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program grant funds from the Bureau of Justice Assistance. The Broward County Sheriff's Office is required to distribute these grant funds to each local Law Enforcement Agency and each distribution amount is predicated upon the population and crime statistics for each jurisdiction. The distribution amount for the City of Hollywood is approximately $53,976.00, which must be used to purchase the aforementioned equipment and remit an administrative fee of 7.23 % to the Broward Sheriff's Office.
