(16-HTZ-24)
Body
Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Ordinance.
Explanation:
The Butler Rock House located in Charles Vollman Park at 2933 Taft Street is a single-story house encased in a limestone fa?ade; associated with the Butler family, the previous owner of Okomo Park where Sheridan Station Village is located.
There are two requests associated with the proposed historic designation of the Butler Rock House. The text amendment will add the site to the list of Historic Property Overlay Sites (HPOS's) in the Zoning and Land Development Regulations. The second request will designate the subject property as an Overlay Site on the Zoning Map.
On April 26, 2016, the Historic Preservation Board held a preliminary designation meeting and directed Staff to prepare a Historic Designation Report for the Coral Rock House. As such, the City has hired a historic preservation consultant to conduct research, document, and complete a Historic Designation Report for the Coral Rock House.
On June 28, 2016, the Historic Preservation Board jointly with the Planning and Development Board (the "Joint Board") unanimously recommended approval of the attached Ordinance.
