Staff Recommends: Approval of the Attached Resolution

Explanation:
On June 18, 2008, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2008-157 which adopted a new fee schedule related to Fire Inspections and Fire Plan Review.

The Fire Inspection Fee is now included in the Fire Inspection Assessment whereby the fees outlined in Resolution No. R-2008-157 are no longer valid.

The Fire Plan Review Fee Schedule has not been revised since 2008, whereby the Department conducted a survey of surrounding communities to compare Plan Review Fees and found that the City of Hollywood's fees were among the lowest being charged.

In the past eight (8) years, the Fire Department has reviewed 10,539 plans, and with the change in the economic climate for rehabilitation and construction in the housing market, there has been an increase in plans for review from 580 in 2009 to 1,756 in 2015.

In accordance with Chapter 420, Florida Statutes and the City's SHIP Local Housing Assistance Plan, the City's Affordable Housing Advisory Committee is required to review housing policies and procedures that affect the cost of or create an impediment to affordable housing.

On September 7, 2016, the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee reviewed the proposed fire plan review fees as set forth in the attached Exhibit "A", and has forwarded a recommendation of approval to the City Commission.

Based upon the aforementioned, the Fire Department staff is recommending that the fire plan review fee schedule as set forth in Exhibit "A' attached hereto and incorporated by reference, be adopted by the City Commission.
