Explanation:
Following Liberia community outreach, the Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts identified the need for improvements to Henry Graham Park, located at 2350 Simms Street. The demolition of the park's existing asphalt paths, concrete borders, fences and used play equipment shall prepare the site for all-new amenities to include: metal picket and chain link fences and park entrance gates, natural and colored concrete walkways and pads, park benches, a picnic table, a game table, waste bins, a drinking fountain with hose bib, exercise equipment, children's playground equipment, a children's water feature and splash pad, solar lighting, landscaping and sod, irrigation and signage.
Drawings and specifications for the renovated park were prepared by City staff, and the project was publicly advertised via BidSync on July 7, 2016. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting was held at the park site on July 21, 2016, where two (2) potential bidders attended. Six (6) bids were received and publicly opened on Wednesday, August 10, 2016, and the responsive bids are shown on the attached bid tabulation sheet. Staff finds the bid submitted by West Construction, Inc. to be responsive and responsible, and recommends the award of this contract to West Construction, Inc. in the amount of $ 264,179.00.
A portion of this project is being funded through Park Impact Fees and is available in account number 34.3100.88527.572.006301. The remainder of the funding is available from General Capital Funds in account number 34.3114.14362.572.006301.
