Explanation:

Numerous municipalities in the Tri-County area and across the nation, as a projected cost saving measure, have transitioned to extended service hours/four day work weeks.

The City of Hollywood has implemented a pilot program whereby schedules of certain Departments would change to a 10-hour work day, four days per week as a cost saving measure throughout the City and to provide more efficient and effective service and programs to improve the services to its residents within the current budget constraints.

The CRA wishes to adopt the 10-hour work day, four days per week pilot program to be consistent with the City’s operations.  It is anticipated that the modified schedule will result in increased productivity and employee morale and overall quality of life for its employees.  This modified schedule however, would not apply to employees in the Beach Maintenance or Visitor Services programs.

Findings show that Friday is the least busy workday, so the recommended modified schedule for CRA operations is from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday.  It is recommended that this pilot program be implemented for a period of a one year trial basis for applicable employees commencing on Monday, October 3, 2016.
