Staff Recommends: Presentation by Broward Water Partnership

Explanation:

From April through May 2016, participating Broward Water Partnership cities were eligible to participate in the Neighborhood Water Challenge in two competitive categories: Water Conservation and Outreach & Education.

In the Water Conservation competition, water savings over a two-month period were determined by comparing 2015 water bills with 2016 water bills to come up with an average savings.

For the Outreach & Education competition, outreach and education plans were created to help communities understand that conservation and reuse are more than saving water-they are about valuing and using all water resources (the right water for the right purpose) and the various ways that can be done, including stormwater and recycled water.

Dr. Jennifer Jurado, Director, Environmental Planning & Community Resilience Division of Broward County’s Environmental Protection and Growth Management Department will make the presentation at the September 7, 2016 Commission Meeting.
