Explanation:
On July 11, 2001, the City Commission passed and adopted Resolution No. R-2001-93, authorizing the creation of the Education Advisory Committee to obtain and review information regarding educational matters and support and promote quality education in order to make the educational opportunities in Hollywood the best available in the State of Florida.

Pursuant to Resolution No. R-2001-93, members must reside or work in Hollywood, or be known for their countywide interest in education. Further, persons of diverse perspectives shall be represented on the Education Advisory Committee, including parents of school-age or pre-school-age children, educators, business people, and persons with a background and knowledge in child development and/or education-related fields.

Resolution R-2001-93 was subsequently amended by resolutions R-2002-241, R-2003-144, R-2003-373, R-2004-203, R-2005-299, R-2007-421, and R-2009-188, R-2011-143, R-2012-186, R-2013-088, and R-2015-180 thereby establishing the current committee composition with ten (10) Regular Members, four (4) Teacher Members, and two (2) Student Alternate members.

There is one (1) Student Alternate Member position vacant due to expiration of the term on June 30, 2016.

There is one (1) Student Alternate position expiring June 30, 2017 which is available due to the resignation of the incumbent.

The City Clerk and Community Development staff previously provided notice to the public and local high schools that positions were available and solicited interest forms from citizens to fill available these vacancies. However, no applications were received.
