Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities requires the supply and delivery of sodium hydroxide - less than a truckload to neutralize hydrogen sulfide odors produced in incoming wastewater flows.
The City of Margate, Florida's Bid Number 2014-009 was awarded to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder, Allied Universal Corporation of Miami, Florida for one (1) year with an option to renew for an additional two (2) one (1) year periods.
On January 8, 2015, the City of Margate exercised the first one (1) year renewal option.
On February 8, 2016, the City of Margate exercised the second and final one (1) year renewal option.
When the blanket purchase order with Allied Universal Corporation was executed in April of 2016, the estimated annual amount for the supply and delivery of sodium hydroxide was $24,000.00.
The Department of Public Utilities requests the increase as additional hydrogen sulfide gas is being treated due to the completion of the Headworks Rehabilitation/Upgrade Project.
Based on the current usage rate of approximately 1,000 gallons every ten (10) days an additional 21,164 gallons at $1.89 per gallon of Sodium Hydroxide is requested at a cost of $40,000.00.
The current value of blanket purchase order number B002576 is $24,000.00 combined with the requested $40,000.00 provides a new total of $64,000.00.
