Explanation:
The City, together with 17 other participating governmental entities were part of the referenced litigation which sought a declaration regarding the assets and liabilities subject to equitable distribution based upon the Interlocal Agreement with Broward County for Solid Waste Disposal Services. Broward County and several Broward municipalities entered into a Settlement Agreement which provided for the County and Settling Municipalities to agree to use their best efforts (and take all reasonable steps) to sell the parcel of land known as Alpha 250.
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to execute the attached First Amendment to the Settlement Agreement with Broward County for the litigation styled City of Sunrise Et. Al. v. Broward County which would delay the sale of Alpha 250 while a joint independent study is performed regarding the three issues set forth in the attached Resolution.
