Explanation:
The attached Resolution seeks City Commission authorization to accept 2015 Department of Homeland Security Grant Funds from the City of Miami in the approximate amount of $122,225.00 to enhance public safety and emergency UASI approved projects, training and equipment.

The U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security, through the State of Florida Division of Emergency Management has subgranted the Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) Grant Program FY2015 to the City of Miami and its contiguous partners in the amount of $5,225,000. This program targets homeland security funding to "high threat" urban areas in order to prevent, respond, and recover from threats or acts of terrorism and other disasters of natural man-made origin. These funds are to be used, as stipulated in the grant, for the purchase of specialized equipment, exercise, training, administrative services and development of the Urban Area Homeland Security Strategy, and other planning activities to ensure a successful program. In accordance with The City of Miami Resolution (File No. 15-01652), the Miami City Commission authorized its City Manager to execute the attached Memorandum of Agreement with its contiguous partners, which includes the City of Hollywood. ...
