Explanation:
The Department of Public Utilities is requesting to purchase an EP250 Silent By-Pass Pump from Thompson Pump & Mfg. Co. Inc.
The Department of Public Utilities has two (2) by-pass pumps that are fifteen (15) years old and are constantly breaking down and operate loudly.
The Department of Public Utilities has received numerous noise complaints when using the existing by-pass pumps in neighborhoods.
The new pump will primarily be used in neighborhoods where the silent feature of the pump will operate without disturbing City of Hollywood residents.
The by-pass pump is used to pump wastewater during lift station pump failures.
The Florida Sheriffs Association issued Bid Number: 15-13-0904 in 2015 for Cab & Chassis Trucks & Other Fleet Equipment, with effective dates of October 1, 2015 - September 30, 2016.
The bid was awarded to numerous vendors including Thompson Pump & Mfg. Co. Inc. for the “6 INCH MOBILE PUMP PACKAGE (SPECIFICATION #71)”.
Thompson Pump & Mfg. Co. Inc. is the awarded supplier for the City of Hollywood.
The Director of Public Utilities and the Contract Compliance Officer recommend that the City Commission approve the issuance of the attached purchase order for the purchase and delivery of one (1) silent by-pass pump to Thompson Pump & Mfg. Co. Inc. in an estimated amount of $49,997.00 which is inclusive of all fees including one (1) operational training session, delivery and warranty.
Section 38.40 (C)(5) of the Purchasing Ordinance allows the Director to procure, without following formal procedures, all goods and services which are subject of contracts with the state, its political subdivisions, the United States government, other governmental entities, or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, provided however, the goods and services are: (i) the subject of a price schedule negotiated by the state or the United States government, or (ii) the subject of a contract with another governmental entity or a corporation not for profit whose members are governmental entities, public officers, or any combination thereof, which contract is based strictly on competitive bids or competitive proposals and not on any preference.
Funding for this service has been provided via Resolution No. R-2015-345 which continued the appropriation for previously approved Capital Projects from FY 2015 to FY 2016, and is available in account number 42.4000.86584.536.005224.
