Body

Staff Recommends: Approval of the attached Resolution.

Explanation:

This Resolution seeks authorization for the appropriate City Officials to purchase special weapons and tactics (SWAT) anti-ballistic vests and armor vest plates and associated equipment, for the purpose of replacing expired vests and/or equipment.  If approved, the purchase will be paid through funds that were derived from police forfeiture proceedings.  Specifically, the purchase will be paid from an account associated with federal law enforcement forfeitures.  Because the funding is already available for use, there is no additional cost to the City of Hollywood.  Under state law, however, forfeiture funds cannot be expended until the use is approved by the City Commission.
