Staff Recommends: Approval Of The Attached Resolution

Explanation:

The area of Jefferson, Fillmore, Jackson, Adams, Madison, Buchanan, Taylor, and Pierce Streets between Federal Highway and Dixie Highway in the Downtown CRA district has been identified as having inadequate street lighting.  Plans and specifications for a street lighting project to address this issue were developed by the Department of Public Works.

The department has selected Holophane Lighting for the purchase of light poles and fixtures to be used for the project.  It is in the best interest of the City and the CRA to purchase the light poles and fixtures from Holophane Lighting as it will reduce related maintenance costs since the Department of Public Works currently maintains the same light poles and fixtures in other areas within the city.  Additionally, purchasing the light poles and fixtures directly by the CRA will result in savings on the sale tax and the contractor markup costs.

The total cost of the project is an amount not to exceed $527,533.50.
